Riley's on Cranford

IT has been many years since I have been able to enjoy quality pizza and pasta at an Italian restaurant.

As I suffer from coeliac disease, these dishes are usually reserved for cooking at home, so imagine my delight when I discovered that Riley’s on Cranford offers both gluten free pasta and pizza options.

Like a child in a candy store, I was unable to decide what I wanted, so luckily my boyfriend agreed to share with me.

The wood-fired pizzas sailing out from the kitchen looked divine, with creative toppings such as the steak, egg and mushroom special, and chicken marinated in honey and soy.

There were so many options to choose from, with other menu items like chicken involtino, lamb shanks and garlic prawns making it a difficult decision.

Finally, we opted for the Milano pizza, which was topped with chorizo, roasted capsicum, red onion and kalamata olives, and the cacciatore pasta special.

Both were incredibly delicious, with the pasta sauce making me want to lick the bowl clean.

The tomato sauce was rich with garlic, juicy mushrooms and spinach, and the slices of cacciatore provided a delightful hint of chilli.

My boyfriend and I happily munched away, enjoying the pleasant, relaxed surrounds and friendly service Riley’s on Cranford provided.

The cafe is unpretentious, welcoming and simple in the best meaning of the word.

Riley’s on Cranford serves tasty, generous meals designed to warm the body and the soul, providing a great place for a family meal, catch-up with friends or when you just don’t feel like cooking.
