A NEW internet business run by Bronwyn Gossage is making it easier for parents preparing for sporting carnivals.
Mrs Gossage’s yearly dilemma of trying to find a good pair of shorts for her own three children on sports days has prompted her to start the Racer Shorts online business.
“I was doing the rounds of retailers each year just looking for plain shorts that didn’t have slogans like ‘Roxy Babes’ on them,” she said.
“Then I thought, hey, I should just do this myself.
“And while little girls enjoy sports and wearing pretty dresses, they also like doing cartwheels and I also got sick of seeing everyone’s knickers.”
It has taken the Shenton Park resident about six months to get the business off the ground, needing to source materials, design the shorts and find the right manufacturers.
“While others are going off-shore, we’re trying to keep it local and help put Perth on the map, making them at factories in Osborne Park and Leederville,” she said.
Fashioned in a mix of colours including red, gold, blue and green that tie in nicely with school uniforms and sports factions, the shorts are available online or by phone order.
