HOVEA woman Dee Potts recently showcased her vibrant craftwork from Uganda at a fundraising morning tea at the Glen Forrest Sport Club.

Ms Potts is on a mission to help ease some of the horror afflicting children in Africa and is in the process of getting together enough money to build a complex that will mean the difference between life and death for hundreds of children.

The craftwork was on sale and club members bought a cuppa and scone to help the worthy cause.

Over the past three years, Ms Potts has completed a three-month placement in a remote village primary school, where she discovered disease and misery, and a lack of education and hope among many orphaned children.

The biggest needs for the children are clean water and education.

Now after several trips, Ms Potts has formed non-|government organisation Ugandan Pearls with a young African man Ndawula Moses.

The pair have bought 1.2ha in Nakiwate Village for 10 million Ugandan shillings and have started construction of a complex which will house 20 orphans.
