THE Stirling Centre Alliance received $3.5 million for planning works to turn Stirling into Perth’s second CBD in the latest State Budget.
Scarborough MLA Liza Harvey said the funding would be “well received” by residents and businesses keen for improvements to the current traffic problems at Innaloo.
“I’ve been pushing for more frequent bus services on Scarborough Beach Road and I’m pretty confident we’re going to get those extra services,” she said.
The government also set aside $40 million to buy an extra 78 buses and $133 million to provide more frequent bus services during the next four years.
Balcatta MLA John Kobelke said rising utilities in the Budget would “hit hard” for people on low and fixed incomes, pensioners, and families.
“Electricity is up 5 per cent – that’s up 52 per cent over the last three budgets – and water is up 13.9 per cent, up 47 per cent over the last three budgets,” he said.
“For many struggling families and individuals, that is a huge burden to bear.”
