AS a mother of twin boys, Jennifer Gelven knows how vital a support network can be when parenting twins.

With this in mind, she created Multiple Birth Parents, an online community that meets up in Mandurah.

The online forum gives parents of twins, triplets or more a place to share their experiences.

Members can log in to the forum and post privately about anything related to multiple birth children.

Mrs Gelven has just started the meetings and the numbers vary.

“It is important to have a support network because you have two babies needing changing, feeding and attention,” she said.

“The meet-ups just offer support for parents, somewhere to chat and have coffee.”

Mrs Gelven advises new parents to ask for help if they need it and to understand the bond twins have is unique.

“As a parent of twins, you always get stopped by people wanting to have a look,” she said. “Other parents understand the challenge of simple things like doing groceries.”

Multiple Birth Parent’s meet next at Lakelands Community House at 20 Dalona Parkway on March 21 at noon.
