ABORIGINAL elder Allan Kickett, of Eden Hill, helped plant a flooded gum sapling at Mary Crescent Reserve last week to commemorate the second anniversary of Kevin Rudd’s apology to the Aboriginal people and Stolen Generations.

“May this tree and our community flourish together,” Mr Kickett said.

Bassendean Town Mayor John Gangell and City of Swan Deputy Mayor Mick Wainwright attended the event as well as council staff and community members.

Staff from the Town of Bassendean and City of Swan will work with the local Aboriginal community to plant native species across their parks each February.
