THREE Year 8 Penrhos College students showcased their literary skills during a recent State writing competition.
Ishtar Steggall, Samantha Miller and Katelyn Kalajzic (all 13) were the standout performers scooping the top three places of the Make Your Own Storybook competition.
The Children’s Book Council of Australia event required Year 8 students to create an age-appropriate book for young adults as part of their first term English studies.
Ishtar took out the top prize for her book Thirteen, Samantha was runner up for her work Moi and Katelyn’s Living the Dream finished third.
John Marsden, Morris Gleitzman and Melina Marchetta were among the students’ favourite authors.
Head of English Peter Nutchey said the achievement was a great result for the college.
“To have a trifecta in the State-wide competition is a delightful result for both our girls and our teachers,” he said.
He said the college would honour the students at an upcoming assembly.
