RCD deadline has come and gone

12/Aug/2011

Comments:

THE Director of Energy Safety Ken Bowron has issued a reminderthat all residential rental properties must be fitted with at least two Residual Current Devices (RCDs) protecting power point and lighting circuits from August 8.

“The two-year transition period for continuing tenancies to have the two RCDs fitted is coming to an end,” he said.

Mr Bowron said installing RCDs in every rental property would significantly increase safety for all tenants. An RCD is an electrical safety device fitted at the main switchboard of a house or business.
